Kid's Trail Adventure

This weekend was such a delight to be able to photograph the Kids' 1 Mile Trail Adventure at Staten Island's Willowbrook Park.  This race had some fun challenges for the runners and was part of the Second Annual SIAC's Firefighter Greg Buck Scholarship Trail Festival.

After the 1 mile run, us older runners, were able to participate in a 5K and 10K that went thru the woods and proved to be more challenging than I expected, but totally fun.

The kids took off with so much excitement and kept up the great energy for the entire mile run.

Through the woods, under a net, and past a balance beam, were some of the challenges these little runners had to go maneuver thru.

And for the grand finally, there was some fantastic jumping!

All in all it was a fantastic way to spend a Saturday morning and it was great preparation for next weekend when I plan on photographing the High Rock Challenge, which will start at the Greenbelt Recreation Center.  I'm so happy it's nice out again :-)

Vanessa & Juan Pablo - A Lovebird Session

I've been a little under the weather for the past few days but nothing was going to stop me from keeping my date with Vanessa and Juan Pablo.  I had been looking forward to this lovebird session all week.

We met up at the North Hudson County Park in North Bergen, NJ this past Friday.  The day was a little chilly but the sun was so bright, that it was blinding at times.  A little camera shy at first, but a total pleasure to be around, Vanessa and Juan Pablo almost forgot the camera was there by the end.

After a stroll around the beautiful lake of this park, we took a quick drive to Hamilton Park in Weehawken, NJ for a fantastic view of Manhattan and the Empire Staten Building.

Vanessa & Juan Pablo, thank you for a beautiful day full of laughter and great conversation. You two are fabulous together!

Using available light to be creative

Yesterday, I asked on Facebook if anyone could identify what this was a picture of?

I got a couple of responses. One person said it was "The djs booth with led lights being sprayed around".  Another said it was, "A long exposure of glow in the dark bands". Both very good guesses!

What was it in reality?  It was the Midtown Men, performing at the St. George Theatre in Staten Island this past Sunday.

I was enjoying the show, when I decided to "play" with my camera and the cool effects you can obtain when you play with your camera settings and use only available light.  Here are some other shots that I truly enjoyed creating.

I highly recommend going to see them and also visiting this beautiful theater.  And as far as creating unique images, never stop experimenting and pushing yourself to see what you can achieve in any situation.

Have a Happy Thursday!!

Happy 35th Anniversary!!

What a pleasure it was to photograph this beautiful couple who is celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary today!! Talk about a truly special lovebird session!  I introduce you to the lovely, Susana & Francisco, aka my mom and dad!

Through the highs and lows, the strength of their love always carried them forward and has taught me more than I could ever hope to learn from anywhere else.  Their marriage has taught me the importance of working as a team but also of allowing each other the freedom to never stop being an individual. They always taught us that they would move "cielo y tierra" (earth & sky) for their children and with their actions they demonstrated that nothing is impossible if you dare to dream, love and work hard.

A lifetime of laughter and tears, and it seems like it is just the beginning! Here they are posing next to some trees that they planted together over 30 years ago in Ecuador and to revisit them and see how time has been kind to them is so beautiful. You can truly appreciate the fruit of their labor.

Mom and dad, you fill my heart with joy. I am so blessed to have you and to share in your happiness. I love you both so much.

My cousin and her little man!

Sometimes I capture and image and it stays with me, in my mind and in my heart day after day. Not sure why, but it's one of the many reasons I love photography.

On the last day I was in Ecuador this past February, as I was packing my bags to head out to the airport, I glanced out my window and saw my cousin Diana with her little man David waiting for the school bus. Still sleepy and looking for a cuddle from mommy, this tender moment just caught my attention and touched my heart.

Diana and David, this is just a quick note to let you know that I'm thinking of you! You two make an absolutely adorable pair!
No te doy traduciendo, para que practiques!! Besitos! :-)
