The Boudoir Experience First-Hand

I had the pleasure of photographing Jeanette last week.  We first connected a few weeks back to plan her boudoir session, and from the beginning I could tell that she was a kind spirit full of positive energy and just a happy outlook on life... my kind of girl!

She confessed that she had been thinking about getting her "sexy pictures" done for a while so I was excited for her that she found me!  We discussed what lingerie and accessories to bring and so many other things. Before the session we also touched base about things like nails and hair, outfit colors, etc. It was a lot of fun.

Jeanette came super prepared.  Once she arrived, we got her into hair and make up right away and even though a little nervous at first, she was totally ready to rock her photo session.

Here are some her gorgeous images starting with her before and after images:

Staten Island Boudoir - Celebrating our femininity

It sounds corny to say that boudoir photography is a passion for me.  However, I find so much joy in being able to provide such a powerful and liberating experience to so many women. The diversity of women who confess that they have been thinking about having glamour or boudoir pictures done has been surprising at times.  I have photographed scientists, pharmacists, engineers, stay at home moms, young women about to get married, and even women who have just gone thru a divorce.

Woman in their 30s, 40s, 50s or 60s tell me that they always wanted to have the courage to do something like this for themselves and it wasn't until recently that they worked up the confidence to do so.  So many woman tell me they were waiting until the "perfect time" or until they "lost that extra weight" but they came to the realization that they were happy with the women they had become and had so many reasons to celebrate.

They are always overwhelmed by the resulting images because they have never allowed themselves to see how truly beautiful they are.  From the moment they contact me, I do my best to get to know the person on the other end of the line.  We talk about who they are, what's important to them, the reasons behind wanting these pictures done.  We talk about what they love about themselves... even though difficult sometimes, but putting yourself down or criticizing your body is not allowed!  This is about loving ourselves even with the "flaws" that make us unique individuals and therefore beautiful.

Have you been thinking about having this amazing experience yourself?  Want to just discuss the possibility of maybe doing it in the future, please don't hesitate to contact me.  I went thru the boudoir photo session experience myself last year when I felt like I was in a "rut" and it was so much fun to allow myself to be pampered and feel beautiful.  Now I know first hand the power of this experience it is my privilege to be able to share it with so many others.
